About Us

Up N Over DTC was founded in the Spring of 2000 for the training of Dogs in Obedience and Agility. The seven founding members who had worked for dog rescue for some years, recognised the need for a Fun Club, which allows dog owners not wishing to compete in these disciplines to still be able to train their dogs in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We accept all breeds - not just Collies! It is encouraging to know that most members join by recommendation of existing members or Local veterinary practices. We believe that in today's environment it is important that our dogs are trained to be acceptable members of society and consequently our three obedience classes aim to achieve the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards for Bronze, Silver and Gold. Our aim is to promote and encourage responsible dog ownership.

Up N Over will always have a Special Welcome for rescue dogs regardless of their breed. Throughout the year the Club works for dog rescue and other worthy causes by running a Novelty Dog Show and a 'Have a Go' Agility ring. Monies raised through these events allow us to contribute to animal welfare threefold:

(a) by direct monetary donation,
(b) by attending charity events both as an attraction and fundraiser, supplying rosettes, prizes and trophies,
(c) by providing low cost training to dog owners, helping to keep dog and owner together.

It is important to note that no one at Up N Over receives a wage or any form of payment whatsoever for their services. All our Trainers and supporters freely give their time and energy to support our Club and charity works.

Events

We hold events for Dogs for the Disabled, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, Hethe Village Hall fund, Houla's Animal Sanctuary, Brackley Carnival, Wing Carnival and many others. For the above we ran either or both a 'Have a Go' Agility Ring or a Fun Dog show. In all cases UNO donated all prizes, rosettes and trophies from Club Funds. We often make cash donations to increase the days fund raising. We receive requests for help up to 12 months in advance and will return to support all the above worthy causes in 2008. We also sponsor two dogs with Dogs Trust and two kennels at Hula's Rescue. We also support Wiccaweys Dog Rescue.

We attend up to six country fairs a year at Chetwynd Park Shropshire (twice yearly), Ragley Hall in Alcester, Usk in Monmouthshire plus The Cotswold Country Fair Cirencester. Our purpose here is three fold. Visitors to the fair receive a 15-minute basic agility lesson and free dog training advice. We also run a fun novelty dog show (along the lines of a breed show), where entrants can win a rosette and a small trophy or prize - Handsome Dog, Waggiest tail etc. Through such shows we hope to introduce owners to our sport and help with any problems, which might eventually result in dogs being handed into rescue. Most owners have always wanted to try Agility with their dog - we give them that chance. The  'Fun Dog Show'  is the Show with the family pet in mind,  (although all are welcome), with the opportunity of winning that first rosette and one of a wealth of prizes kindly donated by our sponsors - GILPA Petfoods.

If you are looking to train your dog, then please contact us for a free training session without obligation to join*. The coffee and toffee doughnuts are on us too !! :o) Look forward to meeting you !
